My great-grandfathers first wife had a sister called Nielsine Johanne Mogensen, she was born june 22. 1865. She married William Clausen on april 13. 1888 in Rønne church on the danish island Bornholm, and later that year they moved to Idaho.
William Clausen had been in USA before he came back to Denmark where he married Nielsine.
The danish online emigration records (www.emiarch.dk) has William Clausen and Signe Clausen registered april 15. 1888, destination is Lewiston, Idaho. (Note that Signe/Sine is just the 'short version' of Nielsine)
It is very likely that these photos are their kids.

The following is written (in danish) on the back of the photo: This is an image of Laura and our new house, it failed a bit. The sun was shining on the snow so she couldn't keep her eyes open we told her to open her eyes but she opened her mouth instead but you can see the shop here so I send you one of them. We are as always, hope to hear from you soon. |
The danish book 'Slægten Graa på Bornholm' (The Graa family on Bornholm) by Angelo Kennebo contains information about 4 daugthers of Nielsine and William:
1. Minnie Clausen born 189?, died age 20.
2. Ethel Clausen born 189?, later married and had children
3. Ada Clausen born 189?, schoolteacher, never married
4. Laura Clausen born 1899, schoolteacher, never married, died in a bathing accident.
The 1900 US census in Idaho tells:
Clausen, William. Born march 1855 in Denmark. Emigrated to USA in 1872. Merchant.
Clausen, Sine. Born june 1867 in Dewnmark. Emigrated to USA in 1888.
Clausen, Minnie. Daugther. Born june 1890.
Clausen, Ethel. Daugther. Born april 1892.
Clausen, Addie. Daugther. Born march 1894.
Clausen, Laura. Daugther. Born december 1899.
Everything in this census indicates that this is Nielsine and William in Idaho. Names, birthdates and places fits. So does the time of emigration.
Note that the danish name Clausen could be written Clawson in english.
Also note that the youngest daugther is called Laura, so is the little girl on the third photo.
